Meet Shannon Brown
Shannon Brown was born and raised in Maywood, Illinois. He attended Tender Care for Pre-K, St. Eulalia, Lexington Elementary School, and Proviso East High School in Maywood, Illinois. Throughout his years from grade school to high school, Shannon sought out opportunities to motivate and break barriers in both academics and athletics. In high school, Shannon was named, “Illinois Mr. Basketball” and was a “McDonald’s All-American.” All while embodying the true spirit of a scholar enjoying all subjects. Showing that being an athlete calls for both intellect and integrity. Shannon continued his excellence at Michigan State University. During his 3 years as a Michigan State Spartan, he was chosen as a second-team All-Big Ten and All-Big Ten Defensive player. Shannon’s power, agility, and bold energy manifested in the first round of the 2006 NBA Draft as the 25th pick.
As Shannon bridges his love for basketball and his hometown together, children, youth and adults are being supported through his various business endeavors. He is encouraging his community to promote Sacrifice, Ambition, Loyalty, Unremitting, Truth, and Education to lend to various attributes of their lives. Shannon is doing this through The Brown Brothers S.A.L.U.T.E Foundation, which is co-founded with his brother, Sterling Brown of the Milwaukee Bucks.
